Project Overview:

The original 1960s Belconnen trunk sewer is a critical network component serving Canberra’s rapidly growing population across Belconnen, Gungahlin and Hall. To increase capacity, the project delivered:

  • Installation of 2.4km of new trunk sewer
  • 18 new manholes and 4 odour control units
  • 170m pipe bridge spanning Ginninderra Creek
  • 25m crossing at North Latham
  • Full restoration of all impacted areas

Through strategic upgrades to this ageing but vital infrastructure, the project enabled the sewerage network to keep pace with rising demand across multiple regions.

Our Role

Originally contracted for two major creek crossing pipes at Ginninderra Creek and North Latham, Wexcon demonstrated expertise realising quality infrastructure. This led to expanded supply-install scope:

  • Four odour control units (OCUs)
  • Custom sewer manhole S18
  • Formwork, rebar, concrete pumping and placement

We also supplied hourly labour and plant. Across original and added scope items, our consistent delivery of vital upgrade components showcased capabilities and earned further trust to support expanded sewerage infrastructure.

Testimonial:

“Wexcon were engaged by Diona in March 2022 to deliver the FRP works scope on Two Sewer Pipe Bridges as part of the Belconnen Trunk Sewer Project. After displaying their professionalism and high quality of workmanship on the initial scope Diona awarded Wexcon additional work scope to the value of $420k. Wexcon completed their project scope in a well-planned, safe and collaborative manner. Wexcon also supported the project by providing plant items on a hire basis. I would highly recommend Wexcon to any Contractor looking for a reliable FRP delivery partner.”
